HOW IT HAPPENED
The Oswego Lakers and Potsdam Bears clashed in a conference tilt. It's been a tale of two different seasons as the Oswego Lakers went into the matchup undefeated in conference play, and the Potsdam Bears went into the game winless in conference play. Despite the difference in SUNYAC records, the Potsdam Bears gave the Oswego Lakers everything they could handle in a narrow one-goal game.
Potsdam was able to string together a series of passes to take a quick 2 goal lead early in the 1st quarter. A high-scoring 1st quarter saw the Lakers light up the scoreboard 5 times, and the Bears were able to do so 4 times. To start the 2nd quarter,
Cassidy Croce went on a 3-goal scoring run by herself, as she put the Lakers up 8-4. The Lakers would take a 4-goal lead into halftime.
Coming out of the half,
Alexis Hill was able to net back-to-back goals and put the Lakers up 11-5. As the third period came to a close, the Lakers began to play more defensively as they held a large lead. In the 4th quarter, the Bears offense was able to gain more confidence as they began to score quickly. Despite the late offensive surge by the Bears, the Lakers were able to hold them off to take a narrow 13-12 win.
