HOW IT HAPPENED
In doubles action, Oswego's top pair of
Emily DeLuca and
Leah Bell were locked in a competitive battle with New Paltz's top duo before the match went unfinished. Meanwhile, the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles teams, despite strong efforts, fell 6-0 as New Paltz jumped out to an early lead.
Moving into singles play, Oswego continued to show heart across the courts. At No. 1 singles,
Rafaela Dimitrakopoulou faced a relentless opponent, while
Avery Borman at No. 2 singles managed to snag a few games off her opponent in each set.
Leah Bell fought hard at No. 3 singles but was unable to break through against a sharp New Paltz player.
Several matches remained unfinished, with
Emily DeLuca battling into a third set at No. 4 singles before play was halted.
Isabella Eason and
Kate Hayes were also engaged in their matches when the team result was clinched.
The Lakers ultimately fell by a score of 4-0. Oswego landed three athletes on the All-Tournament Team.
