OSWEGO, NY – For the first time in program history, the SUNY Oswego men's tennis team was in action in the first round of the NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Tournament. The Lakers took on the Amherst Mammoths at the Bass River Tennis Club hosted by Tufts University.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lakers faced a deep and talented Amherst squad that came out strong in doubles play. Oswego's top pair of Matt Mannara and
Anthony Marcano battled but fell 0-6 to the Mammoths' standout duo of Andreas Sillaste and Edred Opie. On court three,
Austin Davis and Jose Miguel Garcia also dropped a 0-6 decision. The second doubles match was left unfinished with
Tyler Yhun and
Colin Byer trailing 0-5.
In singles, Amherst sealed the match by securing straight-set victories at positions 1, 2, and 6.
Tyler Yhun put up a fight in the second set on court six but ultimately fell 0-6, 1-6. Mannara and Marcano were overpowered in their respective matches by Amherst's top-line players, each losing 0-6, 0-6.
Though the match concluded once Amherst reached four points, several other contests remained unfinished with Oswego players showing resilience. On court three,
Austin Davis fought back from a tough first set and was leading 5-0 in the second before the match was called. Similarly,
Colin Byer and Jose Miguel Garcia each rebounded from opening set losses and were level or ahead in the second sets of their respective matches.
