OSWEGO, NY – The SUNY Oswego Baseball team was in action for the first game of the SUNYAC Baseball Tournament on Thursday afternoon. They took on the New Paltz Hawks in a rematch of last season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lakers were entering this years SUNYAC Tournament hoping to take some revenge on the New Paltz Hawks after they sent home the Lakers last season.
In the first inning,
Trey McGowan doubled down the left field line and was hit home when
Daniel Winchester crushed a home run to left field to give the Lakers a 2-1 lead.
The Hawks were unable to answer until the bottom of the third when Kreider smacked a home run to cut the lead to one.
The Lakers held the 2-1 lead until the 9
th when
Anthony Barone singled and later scored on a single to center field from
Tishawn Featherstone making the score 3-1.
Jacob Sanders through an impressive 8 complete innings allowing just 5 hits, 1 run and striking out 8.
Owen Hoyt came in to close out the Hawks with a 1-2-3 inning in the bottom of the ninth to advance the Lakers.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Lakers will take on the tournament host, SUNY Cortland on Saturday morning at 10:00 AM for the next round of the SUNYAC Tournament.
