HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lakers set the tone early and never relented.
Travis Baker opened the scoring just 3:38 into the first period, burying an even-strength chance off feeds from
Brett Fudger and
Niklas Miller. Oswego doubled its lead less than two minutes later when
Justin Ryan scored unassisted, taking advantage of sustained pressure to make it 2–0 before the game had settled in.
Oswego carried that momentum into the second period.
Connor Gatto struck just 44 seconds after the opening faceoff, finishing a play set up by Baker to extend the lead to three. Ryan added his second goal of the night at 14:36, converting off a feed from Gatto to push the Lakers ahead 4–0 after two periods.
Any hopes of a Morrisville rally were erased midway through the third period. While killing a penalty, Baker broke free and scored a shorthanded goal at the 8:38 mark, finishing a pass from
Ryan Burke to cap the scoring at 5–0.
Brandon Milberg anchored the defensive effort for Oswego, turning aside all 13 shots he faced to record the shutout. The Lakers controlled the game statistically as well, outshooting Morrisville 51–13 and consistently dictating play in the offensive zone.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Lakers will remain home and host the Cortland Red Dragons tomorrow January 10th at 7:00 PM.
