HOW IT HAPPENED
Canton got out to a hot start, opening up the game on a 5-2 run. Oswego quickly battled back to make it 9-7. It was a balanced attack by the Lakers as the first five kills for them were by five different players. Oswego then started to pull away creating a 16-11 advantage. They continued to capitalize on Canton mistakes and went on to win set one, 25-19.

Canton again would open the scoring, taking the first six points. Oswego battled back courtesy of two Grace Gdovin aces. Priscilla McReynolds was firing on all cylinders as she picked up three quick kills. The outside play was really working as the next five kills were thanks to Gdovin and McReynolds. Canton was scrappy and created a big edge at the end of the set. It was 19-20, and Canton went on a 5-1 run to close off set two with a win. McReynolds tallied seven kills in this set.

Nothing changed yet again the Kangaroos got off to a quick start and then Oswego got back in it. Gigi Basile got in on the action with a kill as the Lakers created a three-point advantage with a score of 8-5. McReynolds grabbed two more kills as well Chloe Arnaiz contributing with a couple kills. This set was a tight one but, in the end, the Lakers stayed resilient and took set three, 25-19.

Canton again opened with a gap favoring them. It was 10-4 before a couple Canton mistakes that would give the Lakers life. McReynolds and Arnaiz were big in this set tallying a total eleven kills. Canton's consistent digs and smart offense was too much for the Lakers on this set and it went Canton's way, 25-21.

With both teams back against the wall, we were in for a big fifth set and it did not disappoint. Everyone was big for the Lakers here and you could see the fight in their play. With the game on the line, Canton's Abby Raven had a nice tip over the block to put the set, and the game away with a set score of 15-13.
