How it Happened
The Lakers were able to start this afternoon's game quickly with a goal within the first 5 minutes of play.
Kaylee Elliot put Oswego on the board around the 3rd minute mark with an assist from
Julia Carter.
Â
Cortland responded shortly after with a goal of their own, just another 3 minutes into the half. The Red Dragons pressed the Lakers' defense and played with more aggression, resulting in another goal shortly after, with the Dragons going up 2-1. Looking to extend their lead, the Dragons continued to push, which got them another goal just a minute later, putting them up 3-1. Oswego wasn't able to find any momentum for the rest of the half, letting off multiple shots but never connecting.
Â
In the second half, the Lakers continuously tried to rally both their defense and offense, with them being able to hold off the Dragons' shots on goal but not quite able to secure any more points of their own. Late in the second half,
Sabrina Schmitt and
Julia Carter tested the Cortland keeper, but couldn't find the back of the net despite constant pressure. The Lakers fell 3-1 at home.

What's Next
The Lakers will head to Buffalo, NY, to face off against the Buffalo State Bengals on Wednesday, October 7th, at 4:00 PM.
