HOW IT HAPPENED
Oswego turned a nine-point halftime lead into a runaway win in the final 20 minutes, outscoring Morrisville 58-46 after the break and showcasing the depth and balance that has defined its season.
The Lakers were powered by a monster effort off the bench from
Jayson McGhee, who poured in a game-high 29 points, including a perfect 15-for-15 performance at the free-throw line. Time and again, McGhee attacked the rim, converting through contact and keeping the Mustangs on their heels. His aggressiveness set the tone for a second half in which Oswego shot over 51 percent from the floor and an impressive 54.5 percent from three-point range.
Inside,
Deacon Judd controlled the glass with 20 points and 15 rebounds, eight of them on the offensive end. His work on the boards fueled a decisive 25-8 advantage in second-chance points for the Lakers, repeatedly extending possessions and draining Morrisville's momentum.
After a tightly contested opening stretch, Oswego closed the first half on a steady run to take a 29-20 lead into the locker room. The Mustangs briefly threatened early in the second half, but the Lakers responded with a barrage from beyond the arc.
Chris Whyte-Luciano knocked down four three-pointers en route to 14 points, while
Steven Bradley added 13 points and six rebounds, stretching the floor and opening driving lanes.
Defensively, Oswego forced 14 turnovers and turned them into 15 points, while also dominating the glass 63-32. The Lakers' bench proved pivotal, outscoring Morrisville's reserves 43-27 and providing energy on both ends of the floor.
By the final media timeout, the outcome was no longer in doubt. A late dunk by Judd and a pair of fast break finishes from McGhee capped a commanding performance that reflected a team peaking at the right time.
