Oswego, NY. - The Oswego State women's basketball team battled until the final horn but came up short Monday night, falling 61–50 to SUNY New Paltz in SUNYAC action at Laker Hall.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lakers went toe-to-toe with the Hawks early, matching New Paltz point-for-point in the opening quarter as the teams ended the first tied at 13. Oswego's defense kept one of the conference's top offenses in check early, but New Paltz used a strong second quarter to take a 33–25 advantage into halftime.
New Paltz extended its lead in the third, outscoring Oswego 19–7 to open up a double-digit margin. The Lakers, however, refused to go quietly. Oswego put together its best offensive stretch in the fourth quarter, scoring 18 points and cutting into the deficit behind aggressive rebounding and improved ball movement, but the comeback bid ran out of time.
Giavanna White-Principio led Oswego with a double-double, posting 15 points and a game-high 23 rebounds while playing all 40 minutes.
Bri Weaver added 14 points off the bench, while
Zhane Holmes chipped in 12 points and four assists.
Oswego controlled the glass for much of the night, holding a 47–42 rebounding edge, but New Paltz capitalized on turnovers and second-quarter efficiency to maintain control. Karly Wittenbauer paced the Hawks with 25 points.
