Lakers Fall to #14 Geneseo, 4-1

Oswego, NY - For the second night in a row, the Lakers took on a ranked opponent. The Lakers hosted the #14 Geneseo Knights at the Deb on a frozen Saturday night in Oswego.

BASICS
#6 Oswego: 1 (14-5-2, 11-3 SUNYAC)
#14 Geneseo: 4 (14-6-1, 9-3-0 UCHC)
Deborah F Stanley Arena | Oswego, NY

HOW IT HAPPENED
Geneseo opened the scoring late in the first period and added an even-strength goal midway through the second to take control, carrying a 2–0 lead into the third. Oswego generated steady offensive pressure throughout the contest but struggled to solve Geneseo goaltender Jacob Torgner, who finished with 29 saves.

The Lakers found a spark early in the third period when Matt McQuade capitalized on a shorthanded opportunity, scoring unassisted at 3:48 to pull Oswego within one. The goal injected life into the building and briefly shifted momentum, but Geneseo answered at 11:17 with an even-strength tally to restore a two-goal cushion.

Oswego pushed late and pulled its goalie in the final minutes, but Geneseo sealed the outcome with an empty-net goal at 17:38.

Michael Manzi stopped 20 shots for the Lakers, while Oswego finished the night 0-for-4 on the power play and held Geneseo scoreless on its own penalty kills. Despite being outscored, Oswego matched Geneseo at the faceoff dot and showed resilience defensively, blocking shots and limiting second-chance opportunities.

WHAT'S NEXT
The Lakers will head to Conference rival Cortland on Friday February 13th for a 7:00 PM SUNYAC Clash.
