Potsdam, NY - The Lakers men's lacrosse team traveled to Potsdam, NY Saturday afternoon to take on the SUNY Potsdam Bears in a SUNYAC conference matchup
Basics
Oswego 5 (9-5, 3-4 SUNYAC)
Potsdam 12 (10-4, 5-2 SUNYAC)
Potsdam, NY | Maxcy Turf Field
How it Happened
The game started with a big faceoff win by the Lakers and a huge groundball from
Joey Zarcone. Eventually the Bears struck first off of a turnover from the Lakers in their own end, making it 0-1.
Logan Postel responded with a goal of his own to tie the game 1-1. The Bears then proceeded to go on a three-goal run in the 1st to end the quarter up 1-4.
To start the 2nd the Bears kept piling on goals with a two-goal run early in the quarter to make it 1-6. After a couple solid offensive and defensive possessions from both teams the Lakers got back on the board with a goal from
Hayden Coney on a man-up opportunity to make it 2-6 Bears. Postel got his second of the day soon after to cut the deficit down to three making it 3-6. The Bears soon responded with a goal of their own to make it 3-7 to end the first half with the Lakers down by four.
The second half started slow. Both teams had great offensive and defensive possessions, and it seemed no one could get on the board again. A couple great saves from
Seamus Hand kept the Lakers alive and gave them a chance to get back into the game. A couple failed clear attempts from the Lakers towards the end of the 3rd gave the Bears the upper hand and allowed them to go on a two-goal run to end the quarter 3-9.
The Bears opened the scoring early in the 4th. This made it 3-10 Potsdam. This was until Coney got his second goal of the day to give the Lakers some life and make it 4-10. It seemed like all Bears from here as they went on another two-goal run midway through the 4th making it 4-12.
Trey Jones then responded with a goal of his own to give us our final score, 5-12 Bears.
