How it Happened
The 1st quarter started off with a huge draw control from
Aubri Greene to get the Lakers an opening offensive possession. A failed clear from Oneonta got the Lakers on the board first with a goal from
Alexis Hill on a free-position shot making it 1-0. It was all Lakers from the jump as they proceeded to go on a five goal run throughout the first. With goals from
Cassidy Croce on a man-up opportunity, Greene,
Addison Costello on a free-position shot, Hill on another man-up opportunity, and a second from Costello to make it 6-0 Lakers to end 1st.
The Lakers stayed hot to open the 2nd and kept dominating this Red Dragons team. The Lakers proceeded to go on a three-goal run after some great defensive stands in their own zone. Goals were scored by
Abigail Dicks, Costello for a hat trick on the day, and Hill for her own hat trick. The Red Dragons finally got on the board midway through the 2nd with a goal in a man-down situation to make it 9-1 Lakers. However, Croce eventually got on the board again to make it 10-1. This was followed by Dicks quickly getting another to end the first half 11-1 Lakers.
The Red Dragons made a stand to open the second half by playing some solid defense and not letting the Lakers capitalize on any offensive opportunities during the 3rd quarter. This was accompanied by two Red Dragon goals during the 3rd to give them a fighting chance down by 8 with the 4th quarter still to come.
However, the Lakers opened the 4th strong with a quick goal by Greene on a free position shot for her hat trick of the game. This was soon followed by a goal from
Gianna Zerrillo on another free position shot to make it 13-3 Lakers. Hill then got on the board again on a man-up opportunity to make it 14-3. The Red Dragons tried to respond and got one midway through the 4th to put them down by 10. This was not enough to stop a strong Lakers team as Hill put the final nail in the coffin with a goal late in the 4th to end the game 15-4 Lakers.
