Cortland, NY - The Oswego State men's lacrosse team traveled to Cortland, NY on Wednesday afternoon to take on the SUNY Cortland Red Dragons in a SUNYAC conference matchup.

How it Happened
The game started with the Red Dragons winning the opening faceoff and getting on the board first with a goal, making it 0-1. A big ride by the Lakers led to a turnover and a goal from
Logan Postel, tying the game at 1-1. The Red Dragons took charge straight after going on a 4-goal run, making it 1-5 Red Dragons.
Garrett Elston stopped their run, getting the Lakers on the board again, making it 2-5. This was followed by another Red Dragon goal, ending the 1st 2-6 Red Dragons.
It was all Red Dragons to open up the second. The Lakers battled, and
Seamus Hand was making save after save. This was not enough as the Red Dragons went on a 7-goal run throughout the first. The Lakers had multiple offensive possessions, but unfortunately couldn't capitalize on these attempts. Shots came from
Trey Jones,
Hayden Coney, and
Ethan McConnell were just missed or hit off the post as the Cortland defense stood strong. The 2nd quarter ended 2-13 Red Dragons.
The Red Dragons opened up scoring in the second half with a goal, making it 2-14. The Lakers made a big defensive stand in the 3rd not allowing the Red Dragons to get back on the board for a huge chunk of time. This eventually led to the Lakers getting on the board again with a goal from
Trey Jones, making it 3-14. However, the Red Dragons quickly responded with a 3-goal run to make it 3-17. A goal from
Ryan Behringer soon followed, stopping the Red Dragon run and making it 4-17 to end the 3rd.
The Lakers showed some life to open the 4th, going on a 2-goal run with goals from Elston and
Emmet Starowicz, making it 6-17 Red Dragons. The Red Dragons soon responded with a 6-goal run throughout the 4th, making it 6-23. The Lakers couldn't respond, and the game would eventually end in a loss for Oswego against a tough Cortland team.

The Lakers will be back home Saturday, April 11th, for their senior day in another SUNYAC matchup against SUNY Canton.
