CORTLAND, N.Y. — The SUNY Oswego women's tennis team opened SUNYAC play in impressive fashion Friday afternoon, earning a 5-2 victory over Cortland at the Cortland Varsity Tennis Courts.

The Lakers set the tone early by sweeping all three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead heading into singles play.
Leah Bell and
Emily DeLuca cruised to a 6-2 victory at No. 1 doubles, while
Kate Hayes and
Isabella Eason secured a 6-4 win at No. 2.
Avery Borman and
Aubrey Salati completed the doubles sweep with another 6-4 victory at No. 3.
Oswego carried its momentum into singles, earning four victories to secure the team win.
Bell continued her strong afternoon with a straight-set 6-4, 6-1 victory at No. 2 singles. Eason followed with a dominant 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 4, while Hayes battled back after dropping the opening set at No. 5, winning the final two sets 6-1, 6-3. Salati rounded out the Lakers' singles victories with a 7-5, 6-2 triumph at No. 6.
The Lakers also saw a competitive battle at No. 3 singles, where DeLuca pushed Cortland's Reaghan Hughes to a deciding third-set tiebreak before falling in a tightly contested match.
