HOW IT HAPPENED
The raptors started off in command as they jumped out to a quick 6-3 lead. This was before five straight points by the Lakers including a Grace Gdovin and Priscilla McReynolds kill. Alaina Dudzinski got in on the action picking up a kill of her own. Oswego continued to play scrappy and took over the first set. Gigi Basile had a nice stretch getting back-to-back points. Bard would stay in it, but the Lakers held up and took set one, 25-16.

Set two was much the same for Oswego. Basile had two kills in the first five points by Oswego. It was back and forth until Bard went on a three-point run. The Lakers countered the run with one of their own. Lakers' resilient play as well as four more kills from Priscilla McReynolds propelled Oswego to another set win. This one with a score of 25-17.

Set three started off with a big Lakers lead. McReynolds continued her great game as well as Alexandra Fairbanks chipping in with two kills of her own. The Raptors fought back, tying it up at 12. The Lakers continued to answer the call, going on another run to pull away again. In the end, the Lakers runs were combatted perfectly by the Raptors as they ended with four straight points to win set three.

Oswego dropped the third set, got their mind right and came out with their best set of the game in set four. Piper Adams was a big catalyst for the Lakers, an early kill along with stellar defense in the back row. Oswego's big run came when it was 10-10 and Oswego rallied five straight points to put a big gap in the set. Chloe Arnaiz helped push the Lakers to the end picking up two kills as the Lakers went on to win the set, and the game, 25-20.

Mya Bush forced two back-to-back attack errors from the Pioneers, giving the Lakers the edge at 12-9. Some more solid attacks from the Lakers and a service ace by Grace Gdovin gave Oswego a comfortable lead at 19-13. Attacks by Gigi Basile increased the score to 22-17, and one last service ace from Priscilla McReynolds secured their set victory at 25-19.

The beginning of set #2 started off just as competitive, tied at 4-4. An increase in aggression from the Lakers and some kills from Grace Gdovin and Alaina Dudzinski gave them a solid lead at 11-5. A service ace from Lilaina Nelson and an attack error by Utica put the Lakers up 18-10, forcing Utica to take a timeout. The Pioneers were able to regroup, as a service ace gave them a much-needed spark on offense to try and even out the score at 20-16. Both teams traded points back and forth, but the Lakers forced an attack error on the final play to win set #2, 25-21.

Oswego and Utica consistently opened up their sets evenly matched, with #3 being no different, tying at 7-7.
