Oswego, NY - Oswego Lakers field hockey got off to a screaming start to their season with a huge road win over the Elmira College Soaring Eagles on Wednesday afternoon.

How it Happened
The Lakers were on offense right from the start taking control in the first quarter. The Lakers took 4 shots to Elmira's 0 quickly testing the opposing goalie.
It wasn't until halfway through the second quarter when the Lakers took their first lead of the season. The Lakers pushed out of their own zone and
Hannah Pawlowski fired one towards the net that
Gabby Curtis buried home for the first goal of the season. The score would remain 1-0 heading into half time.
In the third, once again the Lakers powered down the field pushing slightly passed the goal when
Kaitlyn O'Malley sent it back in front of the net and Lyla Sharp scored her first collegiate goal increasing the Lakers lead to 2-0. Right before the end of the quarter the Lakers were peppering the Elmira goalie and
Kara Malejs also scored her first collegiate goal giving Oswego a 3-0 lead.
The remaining 4
th quarter was mostly quiet until
Gabby Curtis buried her second goal of the game past the Elmira keeper giving us our final score, 4-0 Lakers. In goal,
Sam Krautheim saved 7 shots and kept a clean sheet in her first game and win of the season.
What's Next
Oswego field hockey will hit the road this Saturday to take on the Nazareth Golden Flyers starting at 1:00 PM in Rochester, NY.
