Rochester, NY - Oswego traveled to St. John Fisher in a SUNYAC and Empire 8 clash. A late goal by
Gabby Curtis was answered to send the game to extra time. A quiet overtime caused a shootout in which Oswego came up big to secure a victory on the road.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Sam Krautheim got things started with a beautiful save in the 4th minute of the first period. Just as the Cardinals had a shot on net, the Lakers had the same opportunity. It was a penalty corner for Oswego's
Alexa Snyder.
Layla Sharp would squeeze through the defense to find the ball but nothing came out of it as the Cardinals had their first save of the game as well. St. John Fisher had two more shots in the first but nothing would come out of them and the score was 0-0, after one quarter of play.
The second period was less offensive and more defensive than the first. The only opportunity created by either squad was two penalty corners for the Cardinals. Defense was on display as still, no team scored.
St. John Fisher took control of the ball in the third. In just two minutes, the Cardinals got off three shots, but
Sam Krautheim continued to shut them down. Oswego kept playing sound defense as two more shots towards the end of the period would come off a Cardinal stick, but none found the back of the net. Although chances for St. John Fisher came in the third, the score was still knotted at 0.
Just a little over three minutes in the fourth, Oswego got their first goal to go. It was off the stick off
Gabby Curtis and assisted by
Alexa Snyder. The first goal had come and it was a big one. Just six minutes later, the Cardinals answered the call. Mary Kate McPhee came through in a big moment to tie things up at 1. The rest of the quarter was quiet and overtime was upon us.
The first overtime saw just two shots taken, both by the Cardinals. Krautheim was excellent in goal and kept the game alive. Just one shot was taken in the second overtime by St. John Fisher and zero by Oswego. No one scored in 20 minutes of action, so they went to shootout.
Shootout scores for Oswego were
Julia Unger (2) and
Alexa Snyder (1) but in the end, it was Krautheim who made a big save, and she came up clutch as ever, securing a Laker win. \
