Oswego State's student-athletes play a vital part in campus life, whether engaged in sporting events, classroom learning or extracurricular activities. The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee provides a student voice on athletic matters, builds bonds between participants in different sports and engages in worthy community activities.

SAAC board members take an active role in enhancing three types of communities -- a more vibrant and cohesive campus community for student-athletes, better integration and positive role models of student-athletes within the greater college community, and community-service efforts such as an annual leaf-raking day that helps senior citizens clean their yards in autumn.

The council's responsibilities include advising or expressing input on issues and policies regarding the quality of student-athlete life on campus. Through representation on Oswego State's Intercollegiate Athletics Board, SAAC offers guidance on local and NCAA rules, regulations and policies affecting student-athletes. Members also gain valuable insight on leadership and team-building while serving a greater good.

The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee at Oswego State has affiliate relationships with similar committees on the SUNY Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) level as well as the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).

SAAC Mission Statement: The Oswego State Student-Athlete Advisory Committee provides a voice for student-athletes within the SUNY Oswego community, represents the interests of the student-athletes to the administration, undertakes projects that benefit all members of the community, and fosters a positive student-athlete image.

SAAC Alcohol Pledge:  As student athletes and competitors we understand the commitment and dedication required for our sports.  In the spirit of competition we pledge to be responsible as student athletes to never participate in or attend any athletic event under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
