Britt Howard joined the Laker staff after serving as the assistant coach at fellow SUNYAC competitor Brockport. At Brockport, Howard was the offensive coordinator of a team that finished ninth in the final 2016 IWLCA national poll. That ranking came on the heels of Brockport earning an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Championship for the first time since 2011. While working for the Golden Eagles, Howard helped three student-athletes to All-Region accolades and five to All-Conference honors.
Prior to Brockport, the Oswego, N.Y. native spent time as an assistant coach at Division I Binghamton University and Division III Adrian College (Mich.). At Binghamton, Howard became a certified Division I recruiter, prepared opponent scouting reports and guided five players to All-American East selections.
During her playing career, Howard spent four years competing for Division II powerhouse Limestone College in Gaffney, S.C. Over her career, the midfielder racked up 95 points on 78 goals and 17 assists. For Howard's efforts during her sophomore campaign, which included 24 points, 27 ground balls, 29 draw controls and seven caused turnovers, she was recognized as an All-Conference Carolinas Second Team selection and a USACOLLEGELACROSSE.com All-American Honorable Mention.
Howard joins a long lineage of family members that have been involved with Oswego Athletics. Her father, Mike, has been the wrestling coach for the Lakers since 1989-90, after he took over the program from her paternal grandfather, Jim, who spent 27 seasons at the helm. Her maternal grandfather, Elmer, assisted her father for eight seasons while her brother, father and a pair of uncles all wrestled at Oswego and another uncle played hockey for the Lakers.
