Oswego State Athletics

Curtis Merrick came to Oswego after coaching for a combined 13 years at Liverpool High School and Cicero North Syracuse High School in Central New York. During those years, Merrick coached 24 NY State Meet Medalists (including 4 NY State Champions) as well as 17 National Championship Meet Medalists (including an Indoor National Champion Distance Medley Relay team). Since arriving at Oswego in 2018, Merrick has coached athletes who have had 38 All-Time Top 10 performances (including 8 School Records) for SUNY Oswego… had 3 All-Conference performers (including a 2-time SUNYAC Champion)... had 2 All-Region performers (including 1 Regional Champion)... and had 2 NCAA All-Americans (out of 3 NCAA Championship qualifiers). 

Merrick graduated from SUNY Cortland in 1998 with a degree in Physical Education. While at Cortland, Merrick participated in Football (as a Defensive Back) and Indoor & Outdoor Track (as a Sprinter, Jumper & Hurdler). Prior to SUNY Cortland, Merrrick participated in the same sports at SUNY Brockport. Merrick received All-Conference honors in the Triple Jump, High Hurdles and Long Jump for Indoor track in 1994, and earned the same honors in the Triple Jump and High Hurdles for Outdoor Track.

Merrick currently resides in Liverpool, NY with his wife (Bonna) and two sons (Curtis and Chris) and is a Physical Education teacher in the North Syracuse Central School District.
