Oswego, N.Y. -- Ashley Lyman of the women's ice hockey team has been named the Oswego State Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending January 19, 2014.
In a 2-0 week for the Lakers, Lyman was involved in three of the team's six goals on the weekend.
Oswego traveled to Buffalo State for a weekend two-game series, taking the Bengals down each day by a score of 3-0. On Saturday, Lyman assisted Erika Truschke on the team's first goal at 18:35 of the first period. As Tori Trovato and the Laker defense completed the shutout, Truschke's goal represdented the game-winner.
In Sunday's victory, Lyman again assisted on the team's first-goal and eventual game-winner, this time to classmate Kendall Appelbaum. Then, in the final period, the freshman was assisting a teammate again, this time helping Alexa Aramburu score at 5:11.
For the year, Lyman is tied for the team lead with nine points along with Melissa Seamont and Olivia Boersen. Her six assists leads the squad while also scoring three times.
Oswego returns to action, and to the Campus Center after a four-game road trip, at 7 p.m. on Friday against Elmira College.
