Oswego, N.Y. - Olivia Boersen of the women’s ice hockey team has been named the Oswego State Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending February 2, 2014.
The Lakers finished 2-0 on the weekend; Boersen being a key player in defeating Stevenson University twice.
With a huge team effort in both games,the senior showed her leadership by scoring a goal in each game, giving her a two-point weekend. During Saturday’s game, she kept the Laker momentum alive by scoring with just 25 seconds left in the first period to make the score 3-0 heading into the second period. Boersen then came out hot in Sunday’s game when she took advantage of the power-play and scored in the first two minutes of the game, giving the Lakers a 1-0 lead.
Boersen is leading Oswego with 12 points this season on six goals and six assists.
Oswego will hit the road to take on Cortland at 7 p.m on Friday.
