OSWEGO, N.Y. - Troy Seymour of the wrestling team has been named the Oswego State Co-Athlete of the Week for the week ending on Jan. 10, 2015.
Seymour finished with a perfect 5-0 record at the Budd Whitehill Division III Duals this weekend, earning a key victory in Oswego's win over Ohio Northern University.
The Peru, N.Y. native defeated all five of his opponents at the tournament by no less than four points, including a 10-1 major decision victory over Messiah's Derek Beitz who is currently ranked seventh in the nation. Of his five matches, Seymour won two of them by fall including finishing off Thiel's Nick Guzma in just 1:35.
At the conclusion of the weekend, Seymour earned All-Tournament honors at the 174-pound weight class as well.
Wrestling returns to the mats at 10 a.m. on Saturday as it travel to the Rochester Institute of Technology for the ECWC Championships.
