OSWEGO, N.Y. – Eric Hamilton of the baseball team has been named the Oswego State Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 6, 2016.
The junior third baseman had a career week, cracking nine hits in three games, seven of which went for extra bases. Hamilton led the squad in RBI with 14 in what would end up being another undefeated stretch for the Lakers, pushing their overall record to 7-0.
In the matchup against No. 4 Salisbury on Saturday, Hamilton cranked two homers, one of them with the bases loaded for his first-career grand slam. He ended the day with 6 RBI and 2 runs scored, driving in eight of the teams 15 runs.
Hamilton would not let up on Sunday, as he launched three more home runs and added two doubles in the doubleheader matchup against Wesley College. Much of his damage was done with runners on base, as he earned eight more runs batted in to contribute to the doubleheader sweep.
Hamilton ended the week with a .650 batting average, and 1.86 slugging percentage.
Baseball will have a break until March 19 when they travel to Auburndale, Florida for the Russ Matt Invitational where they’ll face SUNYAC foe Fredonia in the first matchup of the week.
