OSWEGO, N.Y. – James Lennon of the men’s lacrosse team has been named the Oswego State Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 10, 2016.
The men’s lacrosse team went 1-0 during the week, with the win coming from a triple-overtime thriller against conference-foe Oneonta. The win was the team’s first over the Red Dragons since 2013, and gave the squad its first SUNYAC win, bringing its conference record to 1-1.
Lennon played a key role in the win, scoring three of the squad’s nine goals including the 3OT game-winner. Around two minutes into the stanza, the senior got the ball at the top of the zone, dodged a Red Dragon defender and sniped the bottom right corner of the net.
Lennon’s first two goals came in the second and third quarter, each of which came while the Lakers were holding a slim lead. Just ten games into the season, Lennon has already racked up 28 points (18 G, 10 A). He ranks in the top 10 of the conference in Goals Per Game (8th), Points Per Game (9th), and Shots Per Game (8th).
The men’s lacrosse team will be back on the field on Wednesday when it hosts Cortland at 4 p.m.
