OSWEGO, N.Y. – Eric Hamilton of the baseball team has been named the Oswego State Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 17, 2016.
Hamilton was a crucial part of the team’s success over the weekend where it swept the Brockport Golden Eagles in a three-game conference set. The Lakers now own the SUNYAC’s top record at 10-2.
The Liverpool, N.Y. native smacked a pair of two-run homers in each end of Saturday’s doubleheader to put the Lakers ahead for good. The two dingers increases Hamilton’s season total to 11, which tied the program record for most in a single season; it was originally set by Derek Myers in 1998.
Aside from the home runs the junior collected three singles, scored three runs and walked twice while striking out just once in his 10 plate appearances. Hamilton recorded a 1.100 slugging percentage as well.
He split time behind the plate and at third base tallying 13 and 12 innings at each position, respectively. During his time in the field he made nine putouts, assisted on five outs and did not commit an error.
Baseball will continue play at 2 p.m. on Tuesday when it heads to Potsdam, N.Y. for a doubleheader against Clarkson University before returning home for a single game against Cazenovia College at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.
