Lauren Edwards of the volleyball team was named an Oswego State Athlete of the Week for the week ending Oct. 9.
Edwards is coming off a week where she tallied 89 assists and helped the team to a 3-1 record, which included three crucial conference victories. The senior has now accrued 2,233 helpers in her career, which ranks her second all-time in Oswego State history.
During the Laker’s match against Cortland, Edwards recorded a season-high 25 assists as well as 10 digs and one kill. She surpassed the 20-assist mark two more times during the week, with 23 each against Clarkson and Oneonta.
The Owego, N.Y. native improved her place on another all-time list by notching two aces in the straight-set win over the Buffalo State Bengals on Saturday morning. Edwards is currently tied for eighth in program history with 132 service points.
Volleyball returns to action at 7 p.m. on Wednesday for a home nonconference match against the St. Lawrence Saints.
