Alexa Aramburu of the women’s ice hockey team has been named Oswego State Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending Nov. 27.
Aramburu led the No. 7 Lakers to a perfect weekend against conference-rival Williams College. In Saturday’s 7-2 win, the Glen Rock, N.J. native scored three goals. It is the second time in her career that she has tallied a hat trick and the first time since February 2015.
With the Lakers leading 3-0, Aramburu put the game out of reach by scoring three of the next four Oswego goals. She started it off by adding an insurance goal early in the third period, just prior to William’s first goal. Five minutes later, she added her second goal only to complete her line in the 14th minute of the period.
Aramburu continued her tear on Sunday in Oswego’s 1-0 win, scoring the game-winning point to help the Lakers improve to 9-1 on the season.
The forward now has seven goals—with four this weekend—on the year along with her seven assists to tie her for second on the team with 14 points.
Women’s ice hockey returns to action at 7 p.m. on Friday for a contest versus SUNY Canton.
