Rebecca Vilchez of the softball team was named the Oswego State Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 16.
The freshman pitcher had a stellar week, recording four of the five Laker wins on the mound. Vilchez started three games during the week, throwing a complete game in all of them and allowing only one earned run. Her lone relief appearance came against Potsdam when she pitched three scoreless innings and tallied the win.
Over her 25 innings of work on the mound, she recorded a 0.36 ERA and held her opponents to a .196 batting average. She also struck out 19 batters while allowing only 18 hits and three walks.
At the plate, the Franklin Square, N.Y. native tallied five hits, an RBI and scored three runs.
Softball will return to action at 3 p.m. on Tuesday as the team will host the Bengals of Buffalo State at Laker Softball Field.
