Eric Hamilton of the nationally-ranked baseball team was named the Oswego State Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 30.
During the past week, the senior heated up and batted a scorching hot .739 (17-of-23) helping the team win all five of its games. Hamilton hit three extra base hits, scoring nine times and driving in four runs. He also swiped four bases without being caught and did not strike out or make an error in the field.
His performance helped the Lakers clinch the top seed and hosting rights in the upcoming SUNYAC Baseball Conference Championship.
On Friday during game one’s 12-2 win against Oneonta, the Liverpool, N.Y. native went a perfect 5-for-5 with two doubles and three runs scored.
During game three’s 9-2 win against Oneonta, he matched his first game performance going 5-for-5 at the plate. Along with his five hits, he scored three times, drove one runner in, and stole a base.
Baseball will return to action Tuesday at 4 p.m. as the team will travel to Rochester to take on the RIT Tigers.
