Montana Garrett of the women’s lacrosse team was named the Oswego State Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 30.
During Tuesday’s 10-7 win at Buffalo State, which helped the Lakers clinch a playoff spot, the freshman scored a game-high five goals.
With the Lakers trailing 6-3 in the second half, Garrett scored her first goal of the game to pull the Lakers within two scores. Three minutes later, Garrett put her second goal in the net, tying the game at 6-6 with 18:28 left.
Knotted at 7-7 with less than 10 minutes on the clock, the Buchanan, N.Y. native scored three straight goals leading the Lakers to the win. This helped Oswego clinch home field during the SUNYAC Championship quarterfinal.
Fourth-seeded women’s lacrosse will return to action on Tuesday at 4 p.m. as the team will host the No. 5 Oneonta Red Dragons in the first round of the SUNYAC championship.
