OSWEGO, N.Y. - Courtney Ameele of the women’s basketball team has been named the Oswego State Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending on Feb. 4. Across Friday and Saturday, the senior’s efficient shooting helped the Lakers take both games away from home against SUNYAC rivals.

    Ameele’s double-double on Friday evening against Potsdam earned her entry into Oswego’s 1,000-point club, notching 33 points on 61% shooting from the floor (14-23). In addition to acheiving a new career-high in points, Ameele would also tie her career-high in rebounds as well with 13.

    The next day, the Palmyra, N.Y. native would contribute 15 points, along with two steals and three assists in a 17-point victory over Potsdam. Tying for the team-lead in minutes with teammate Quincey Zimmerman, Ameele’s dexterity with the ball resulted in only one turnover, good for the team-low above 30 minutes played.

    Ameele and the Lakers look to continue their success, tipping-off next against Buffalo State at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 9th at Max Ziel Gymnasium in Oswego, N.Y.
