OSWEGO, N.Y. -- Angela Ponto of the women’s lacrosse team has been named the Oswego State Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending  April 8. During Tuesday’s 11-4 victory on the road against Potsdam, Ponto notched her 500th career save as she continues to build on her program record.
    
Following an early goal from Potsdam, the Lakers answered with 11 straight-goals including hat-tricks from teammates Brigid Regin and Gemma O’Kane. Ponto played all 60 minutes in the contest, spreading six saves across the afternoon to bring her career save total to 503, 115 more than the next closest goalie in Laker women’s lacrosse history.

During Saturday’s game at Oneonta, the West Genesee, N.Y. native again played all 60 minutes in a 14-9 loss. Ponto finished the contest above her career-average with a save percentage of .552 while recording a season-high 16 saves and her second Female Athlete of the Week award in a three-week span.

The senior looks to continue to add to her 519 career saves as she and Oswego travel to New Paltz, N.Y. to face off against the Hawks at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
