OSWEGO, N.Y. – Anthony Passero – of the men’s ice hockey team – was named Oswego State Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending Nov. 11.
Passero was a big factor in both the Lakers’ victories over the weekend. It started Friday, when he scored his first goal as a Laker in their 6-2 rout over SUNY Canton.
The next day, as No. 6/7 Oswego State hosted No. 5/11 Hobart, the junior-transfer had two key plays that prevented the Statesmen from rallying. In the first period, he would assist on a goal scored by Aaron Huffnagle to put the Lakers up 2-0. He then scored his second goal of the season off an assist from Derek Brown and Michael Gillespie to put the Lakers up 3-1 late in the second period.
The Fort Erie, Ont. native’s goal would prove to be the game-winner as the Lakers would go on to beat Hobart, 4-2, to improve to 3-0 on the season.
Passero and the Lakers look to continue their hot start at 7 p.m. Friday night on the road taking on the host Fredonia.
