OSWEGO, N.Y. – Tyler Pierre – of the men’s basketball team – was named Oswego State Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending Dec. 2.
Pierre was a key anchor in the Lakers three victories last week. He averaged 13.3 points, 10.3 rebounds (16 offensive, 15 defensive) on 57.1% shooting in that span.
The senior posted a season-high 18 points and 15 rebounds in his first double-double of the season, in a 70-55 victory over Nazareth last Tuesday. He picked up another double-double in Friday night’s win over Geneseo with his 12 points and 10 boards (eight offensively). To round out the weekend, he went a perfect 3-for-3 from the field and 4-for-4 from the free throw line (10 points) in a 73-63 win against Brockport to help the Lakers remain undefeated at 6-0 (2-0 SUNYAC) on the season.
The Deer Park, N.Y. native currently ranks No. 1 in SUNYAC for field goal percentage (64.4%) and fourth in rebounds (8.7 per game).
Pierre and the Lakers return to the court Friday as they head west to take on Buffalo State in a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.
