OSWEGO, N.Y. – David Richer – of the men’s ice hockey team – was named Oswego State Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending Dec. 9.
Richer was strong in the team’s 4-0 victory over arch-rival Plattsburgh in Saturday’s Whiteout game.
The Mirabel, Que. native earned his first shutout of the season, stopping all 21 Cardinal shots. This is the first time the Lakers have defeated Plattsburgh in the Whiteout game since Feb. 17, 2012, when Oswego downed the Cardinals 3-0.
The Lakers were perfect on the penalty kill, going 4-for-4 in the contest.
Richer and Oswego returns to action on Saturday Dec. 29, after observing a brief winter break. The Lakers face off against Williams College in a 7 p.m. non-conference contest.
