Senior attack player Rachel Ventresca (Syracuse/Henninger) combined for 14 goals and 9 assists in three games in San Antonio, Texas for spring training. Ventresca (Syracuse/Henninger) tied the school record for most goals and points in a game with an eight goal, four assist effort against Salve Regina in the Lakers opening game. She tallied another multiple goal game against University of Rochester, finishing with 5 goals that were unassisted and the only 2 assists of the game. In the Lakers hard-fought battle against Washington College, Ventresca was the point leader again, finishing with 1 goal and 3 assists. She also finished 3-4 for free position shots for the Lakers in the three games.
“Rachel’s ability was noticed by all of the coaches and players while we were down in Texas. Although she has the ability to take the ball to the cage at any time, she has proven to be a team player. Her teammates look for her leadership on the field and so far she has done an outstanding job,” stated head coach Brandi Ostrander.
