OSWEGO, N.Y. – Michael Gillespie – of the No. 6/7 men’s hockey team – was named Oswego State Co-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Jan. 6.

Gillespie notched a goal and an assist in the Pathfinder Bank/Oswego State Classic matchup against No. 9 Salve Regina on Friday evening.  Gillespie’s goal was the eventual game-winner in a 6-2 victory over the Seahawks.  He added an assist on the opening goal of a 6-2 triumph over SUNY Canton in the Championship game.

The junior from New City, N.Y. was named to the All-Tournament Team as he helped the Lakers improve to 10-3 on the season.  Gillespie leads the team with 16 points on four goals and 12 assists.

Gillespie and the Lakers return to action at 7 p.m. on Tuesday as they face off against Nazareth College at Allyn Ice Arena in Skaneatles in support of Griffin’s Guardians.
