After splitting the first four matches, Ithaca College won the final six bouts as the Bombers defeated the Oswego State wrestling team by the score of 27-7 in a battle of nationally-ranked programs. The dual meet was held Wednesday, Dec. 8, at Laker Hall.

The loss was the first of the season in dual meet competition for the 14th-ranked Lakers as they are now 1-1 on the year. The Bombers, ranked eighth in the latest NWCA Brute - Adidas Division III poll, are now 2-0.

Ithaca jumped out to a 3-0 lead following the 125-pound match as Kyle Kemmerer (Kutztown, PA) registered a 4-2 overtime win against Laker sophomore Walter Sosnowski (Massapequa). Oswego State tied the match one weight class later as Josh LeVea (Fulton) doubled up Ithaca's Bryan Gammons (Natick, MA) by the score of 8-4.

At 141 pounds, Scott Aronowitz (New City) posted a 13-0 major decision over Victor Figuero (Bronx) putting the Bombers back in front 7-3. The lead didn't last long as Dane LaPlante (Carthage) knotted the score at seven apiece as the Laker defeated Derek Sweet (Portageville) 11-2 at 149 pounds.
The Bombers then ran off six straight wins to close out the dual meet.

The 165-pound bout was the only match-up of two ranked individuals as Ithaca's Marc Israel (Bethlehem, PA) held off Oswego State's Frank Petrucci (Montebello) 9-6. Israel ranked fourth in the weight class with Petrucci in the fifth spot.

Ithaca also got a win from local product Matthais Keib (Fulton) at 174 pounds. Keib beat Chuck Guttilla (Huntington) 20-9.

Oswego State won't return to the mat until Saturday, Jan. 8, when the Lakers head to Lycoming College for the annual New York/Pennsylvania Duals.
