Oneonta broke a 1-1 tie with less than a minute to go as the Red Dragons defeated the Oswego State field hockey team by the score of 2-1 on Saturday, Sept. 25, at the South Athletic Complex.

The winning goal came with 55 seconds remaining in regulation as Musu Jackson-Buckner (Buffalo) carried the ball deep into the Oswego State end of the field. The junior then sent a short pass to Brynne Hoover (Walton), who fired the ball past the Laker goaltender for a 2-1 lead.

Oswego State opened the scoring in the opening half as Shari Przybyla (Whitesboro) scored on a feed from Melanie Hamm (Johnstown) off of a penalty corner.

The Red Dragons tied the score at one 12:28 into the second half as Megan Flaherty (Fishkill) scored on an assist from Rachel Decker (Sherrill).

Laker goalie Ashley Perkins (Oneida) and Oneonta's Kelly Mohr (Danbury, CT) each finished with six saves.

The Lakers will play a non-conference game on Wednesday, Sept. 29, hosting the Pioneers of Utica College at 4 p.m.
