The Oswego State wrestling team, ranked 18th nationally, won two out of three matches at the New York /Pennsylvania Duals hosted by RIT in Rochester.
The Lakers defeated King's College 30-12 and the University of Scranton 44-9. Lycoming College, ranked 12th nationally, rallied to defeat the Lakers by the score of 20-18. With the two victories, the Lakers improved their dual meet record to 3-2 on the year.
Joe Jewett (Watertown/Indian River) led the Lakers, as he was 3-0 on the day with two wins coming by pin at 133 pounds. Seniors John Spinner (Burke/Franklin Academy) and Jon Jagatnarain (Bronx/Truman) went 2-0 wrestling at 125 pounds and 184 pounds, respectively. Oswego State captain Dane LaPlante (Carthage/Beaver River) won both of his matches by fall at 149 pounds.
Oswego State will return to action on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 13 and 14, as they will travel to Williamsport, Pa., to participate in the 18th annual Budd Whitehill Division III Duals hosted
by Lycoming College.
