The Ithaca Bombers won five straight bouts in the middle weights and defeated the Oswego State Lakers 26-15 in an Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference dual-meet on Wednesday at Max Ziel Gymnasium in Oswego. The 28th-ranked Bombers competed in their first dual meet of the season and are 1-0, while the Lakers fell to 1-2 on the season.

Ithaca won the 149, 157, 165, 174, and 184 pound bouts to stretch their lead from 7-3 to 26-3. The Lakers won the last two matches by pin.

At 197 pounds, Matt Gough held a 1-0 advantage over Ithaca's Dave Sbriscia and turned him late in the third period to get the pin at 6:36.

Heavyweight standout Jake Taylor pinned Ithaca's Mirza Kozarcanin in 1:40 to finish the meet. Taylor is now 15-1 on the season with 15 pins.

Derrick Smith won a 9-6 decision at 141 pounds for the Lakers.

Oswego State returns to action on Jan. 6, as the Lakers host RIT, Kings, and Lycoming for the NY/PA Duals at Oswego High School.
