The Oswego State volleyball team won its first two matches in three straight games at the Union Invitational on Friday. The Lakers defeated the host Dutchmen in their first match and then bettered Hartwick in their second match.
Oswego State defeated Union 30-28, 30-22, 30-13. Breanne Scholla had 10 kills and 14 digs in the match and Shannon Hennigan had 27 assists and 7 kills.
The Lakers then defeated Hartwick 30-26, 30-23, 30-18. Breanne Scholla had 17 kills and Shannon Hennigan had a season-high 40 assists in the match. Amanda Cipriano had 19 digs to lead the defensive effort.
With a 2-0 record the Lakers finished in first place in their group and will play the first-place teams from the other two groups on Saturday, the Lakers faced Vassar at 10 a.m. and will play Skidmore at 2 p.m.
