The Laker wrestling team won once and lost once on Saturday in a pair of dual meets at the University of Scranton. Oswego State defeated Scranton 44-3 and lost 22-19 to The College of New Jersey.

Oswego State gave The College of New Jersey all it could handle, as each team won five bouts on the afternoon. TCNJ, currently ranked eighth nationally, won 22-19. Winners for the Lakers included heavyweight Jake Taylor by pin and Sean Michel by major decision at 133 pounds. Derrick Smith (141), Mike Bahrenburg (149), and Matt Gough (197) all won by decision.

The Lakers won nine of the 10 bouts in a 44-3 rout of Scranton. Three Lakers won by pinfall and three won by major decision. Winners by pin included Sean Michel (133), Mike Howard (149), and Jake Taylor (285). The winners by major decision included Phil Gordon (141), Chuck Guttilla (165), and Ron Williams (184).

Oswego State finished its dual-meet season with a 5-8 record. The Lakers return to action on Feb. 17 at the Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference Championship tournament.
