The Oswego State women's tennis team lost 8-1 to St. John Fisher on Thursday afternoon in Rochester.

The Lakers' lone match winner was Brigid McCarthy at second singles. McCarthy won her first set 6-3 and lost the second set in a tiebreaker. With the match tied at one set apiece, the players played a 10-point tiebreak, which McCarthy won 10-7 over Fisher's Alicia Kaucher. Oswego State also led at fourth singles, as Giana Marchese won her first set by the score of 6-2, but withdrew during the second set with an injury.

In exhibition matches, Oswego State earned victories by Christine Burkhart in singles action and Joanne Duhan and Victoria Kulczak in doubles.

Oswego State is 1-1 on the season and hosts Oneonta on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Romney Tennis Courts.
