The No. 5 Cortland State Red Dragons defeated the Oswego State Lakers 29-15 in a collegiate wrestling dual on Wednesday night at Max Ziel Gymnasium in Oswego. The Lakers are now 1-9-1 in dual meets this season, while Cortland improved to a perfect 10-0.

At 141 pounds, Oswego State junior Derrick Smith scored a 7-5 decision over Cortland's Joe Widrick. Smith, an NCAA Tournament qualifier last year, improved his individual record to 4-1 on the year after missing most of the first half of the season due to injury. He scored the upset victory over Widrick, who was ranked sixth in the latest national individual rankings in this weight class.

Oswego State's Cam Mills and Jake Taylor earned wins by pinfall to provide the bulk of the Laker scoring. Mills pinned ill Brodfuehrer at 4:57 in the 165-pound bout, and Taylor got a first period pin of Joe Murphy at 285 pounds in 2:44.

Cortland's Tom Delesia scored a 6-4 decision victory over Oswego State's Jared Teal at 184. Delesia earned a first-period takedown but Teal answered with a reverse. Delesia held the advantage throughout the second period, and then scored an escape in the opening seconds of the third period. A takedown by Teal put the Laker back in front, but Delesia was awarded a point for a technical violation and then scored an escape for a 5-4 advantage. He earned another point for riding time.

Cortland also earned decision wins at 133 by Dave Colagiovanni, at 157 by Tyler Sick, and at 197 by eighth-ranked Brett Giehl. The Red Dragons won the 125 and 174 pound bouts by forfeit.
