The Oswego State women's tennis team dropped two of three doubles matches and claimed only one of the six singles matches later in the day en route to its third straight defeat of the season, losing 7-2 to SUNY Cortland on Tuesday, Sept. 23 at the Onondaga Hall Tennis Courts on campus.

 The Red Dragons (4-3, 2-1 SUNYAC), who snapped a two-match losing streak, opened with victories at first and third singles, while the senior duo Joanne Duhan (Angola/Lakeshore)  and Sarahjean Marhone (Hollis/Bayside) prevented the sweep with an 8-5 triumph at second singles for the Lakers (1-5, 0-4 SUNYAC).

  In singles play, Oswego junior Tiarra Garrow (Morrisonville/National Sports Academy) improved to 6-0 on the season with a 6-1, 6-2 triumph at first singles over Cortland's Alyssa Trettor, tying the match at 2-2. The Red Dragons responded by winning four of the remaining five matches in straight sets.  The three-set match came at fifth singles, where Gabby Medina of Cortland handed Marhorne her first loss in six matches this season, registering a 2-6, 6-3, 10-5 decision.

The Lakers will take to the road on Friday, Sept. 26 to face defending SUNYAC champion New Paltz in a 5 p.m. match downstate.
