Amanda Cipriano (Solvay) served for a match-high six aces, while freshman Jessica Isgro (Brockport) added four aces as the Oswego State volleyball team defeated Utica College for the third time this season in a non-conference match on Wednesday, Sept. 24 at Max Ziel Gymnasium. The Lakers (8-12) posted scores of 25-15, 25-17, 25-17.
Isgro finished with a team-leading 10 kills and collected 10 digs, while Cipriano totaled seven kills and a team-high 20 digs, improving her school-record dig total to 1,374. Freshman Margaret Thorpe (Fulton/G. Ray Bodley) tacked on six kills and posted a .333 hitting percentage, while classmate setter Katie VanKessel (Milbrook) dished out 26 assists to go with 13 digs.
Senior Beth Widzinski (Amherst/Williamsville South) and sophomore Elizabeth Crouch (Honeoye Falls/Honeoye Falls-Lima) each served for a pair of aces as Oswego totaled 16 aces for the match. The Lakers will be on the road for their next three contests before returning home to host the four-team Oswego State Tournament on Oct. 10-11.
