The Oswego State men's soccer team fell to the Oneonta Red Dragons 2-0 on Saturday afternoon, but still clinched a bid in the upcoming SUNYAC tournament as the sixth seed. The Lakers, who are 5-9-1 overall and 4-4-1 in the league, have one non-conference contest remaining before facing #3-seed Geneseo on Saturday, Oct. 31 in Geneseo. Oneonta, which received the fourth seed with the victory, will host fifth-seeded Cortland next Saturday as well.

Both squads were tied 0-0 at the half before Evan Jedynak scored the eventual game-winner for the Red Dragons in the 53rd minute.  Jedynak received a pass from Jonathan Kowalski before beating Oswego State goalkeeper Matt Wopperer (Jr., Manilus, N.Y.) in the top right corner of the net.

Jednyak added an insurance goal for Oneonta at 63:06 in the game when he broke away from the defense to score his 12th goal of the season.  Wopperer finished the game with four saves on six shots on goal, while Red Dragon keeper Jonathan Korn also posted four saves for the shutout.

The contest was the final home game of the regular season for the Lakers, who recognized their six seniors, Dave Baldanza, Greg Blette, Chris Carra, Felipe Cavalcanti, Nick Liberati, and Jim Mertz, before the game.
