Tiarra Garrow (Sr., Morrisonville, N.Y.) and Jenna Wehn (Sr., Gloversville, N.Y.) recorded wins in singles and doubles play to help the Oswego State women's tennis team defeat Elmira 5-4 on Tuesday in Elmira.

The Lakers started the match with wins from Garrow and Christine Burkhart (Sr., Canandaigua, N.Y.) at the #1 spot by the score of 8-5 and Wehn and Katie Holliday (Sr., Mexico, N.Y.) at the #3 position by the score of 8-2.

Oswego State took a commanding 4-1 lead as Wehn defeated Alexandra Putney 6-2, 6-3 at #2 singles and Garrow defeated Rebecca Kingman 6-1, 6-1 in the #1 spot.  Michele Hierholzer (Sr., Syracuse, N.Y.) closed out the match in the #5 position with a 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 comeback win over Desiree Calderella.

The Lakers begin competition at the three-day SUNYAC Championships on Friday at 4 p.m. at the Eastside Racquet Club in Syracuse.
